The Clinical Evaluation of Antihypertensive Effect of Minizide´ in Korea

Abstract
|
|
|
The effects of Minizide®,,.0.5 mg prazosin/0.25mg polythiazide, were studied in 34 c. ses with essential hypertension at Keimyung University Dongsan Hospital, Korea, between April 1984 and December 1984.
The treatment was started with 1 tablet of Minizide(g, and the dosage was gradually increased up to 4 tablets depending on the response of the blood pressure. The results of study are as follows:
1) 30 patients responded satisfactorily to Minizide®. In this group the supine systolic aleod pressures before and after treatment were 178.7 and 143.6mmHg respectively (pResults of antihypertensive therapy with Minizide® revealed normalization in 47.01o, Good response in 32.3 0´, Fair in 8.8% Failure in 11.8% of cases.
In 88.2% of the cases, normalization, good response or fair control of blood pressure as resulted.
2) No significant postural hypotension was noted in the patients who responded to th-rapy.
3) The side effects during treatment with Minizide® were postural dizziness 11.8%. n usea in 5.9%, headache 2.9%, and constipation 2.900.
However the symptoms were mild and transient disappearing -spontaneously despite co tinued administration of Minizide®.
